Hi all! A couple quick Hippa Updates! 🙂
  1. If your child is an adult (over the age of 18) the law indicates that they should make their own appointment to assist with protecting confidentiality. In our profession, we discuss a variety of intimate topics and therapy is very different than a typical doctors appointment. If the parent would like to book appointments for their adult child, we do need the child’s verbal permission to do so. We understand that the second step is a hassle and we apologize but we are mandated to follow the rules and guidelines dictated to us.
  2. All of our EHR records are stored electronically and are encrypted. Our computers are also encrypted and require several logins. Our email is encrypted with a BBA agreement through Gsuite paid gmail for businesses and is recognized as being HIPPA compliant.
  3. Payment done electronically though stripe or cayan is stored without knowing the whole credit card number. Any written credit card forms are shredded after payment is rendered.
